OVERSCORE's News

It’s the end of another year, and the start of another year. At the beginning of 2022, I could not have anticipated the amount of growth I was going to undergo in the following 12 months. 2022 was not a great year of my life, with some depression issues and a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. But I’ve taken it all in stride and used music as a sturdy crutch when the weight of my problems seemed to be more than J.J. Watt could deadlift.

As for music, wow! 2022 has seen Entity, 2000, Collision, and everything in between. I couldn’t have imagined I would get such positive feedback in my second year of doing this. I’ve also gotten two new pairs of headphones this year, and my new Audio Technica MTH40x’s are definitely helping me get better at mixing and all the technical stuff.

And a special shout-out to @SpeedORH, @SnipeShotUnOfficial, @acheney, and @X-500 for their phenomenal support. It’s been a wild ride, thanks for tagging along.

I don’t currently have any plans for 2023 except releasing my next track. Have a good year, everyone!

Merry Christmas! I recently worked up the motivation to work on a song again instead of sitting on the couch the whole day because that's obviously all I do on a daily basis! Enjoy!

Hello all! A few days ago I listened to music on my sister’s headphones and realized that my own pair is SERIOUSLY low EQ… this is why the mixing was bad for some of the songs I put out recently. I traded my sister for her headphones, so now I have a good EQ pair that I’ve made both of my recent tracks with. They are also NOT wireless headphones, so the quality is better. All around a huge improvement for me as far as my music setup! (which includes nothing but my phone and these headphones. Very luxurious)

You may have noticed me not on in the past 3 days or so. That is because I was in the hospital.

In the past month I have been losing more and more weight, not sleeping at nights, and constantly needing food and drink. It's been a slow decline, but then last week I lost 8 pounds and just got so weak, I could barely walk up the bunk bed stairs. They took me in to the hospital and I got the diagnosis.

I have Type 1 Diabetes.

Diabetes is a non-preventable disease. I didn't cause it. It was always there in my DNA, it was just a matter of when it showed up. Diabetes is basically the inability to break down carbs into energy. The immune system attacks the pancreas cells that produce insulin, which is the substance needed to get energy from carbs. My cells, now starving for energy, create ketones, which make my blood acidic, and use all the fat stored up in my body. This is why I lost weight and was constantly hungry. When they took me in, my blood sugar was at 489. That's almost dangerously high. But they got some insulin into my body and now I finally feel good again.

I am not angry about this diagnosis, in fact, I completely accept it. There's nothing wrong with eating healthy and being aware of how many carbs I consume per meal. I can still eat out, I can still drink sodas (diet), and I can still have birthday cake and ice cream and cookies and all that good stuff that is a little on the unhealthy side. I just have to dose my insulin accordingly and do some exercise. I can still live a normal life. All that changes is my diet, and my opinions on needles.

I am now home again and sleeping fine, in case any are concerned. Type 1 Diabetes will likely be with me the rest of my life, unless a cure is developed in my lifetime. If not, so be it! I'm alright.

That's all the news I have, for now.

Also, I created a song while I was in the hospital. I started it while I was tired and overall mad at the world and finished it during my stay there. It really reflects my mood during that time, I hope you'll take a listen.

Hello, Newgrounds! I have been working extra hard this month to bring you another release. You may have thought I was taking a break after that 20-song release I put out just last month (and maybe I should be), but I actually just started another project, which is now done!

Feel EP is finished, and it's easily my best release yet!

Track list:

  1. Burn
  2. Hurt
  3. Hate
  4. Feel
  5. Numb
  6. Heal
  7. Hope

And I made it because I was depressed...

This has been a tough last couple years, and it's really getting to me, especially recently. Making music has really kept me sane, honestly, and I decided to make an EP exploring my emotions. When storms roll in, keep steady and wait for the rainbow. I can honestly tell you this: you may not ever be quite the same, but you will be stronger, nicer, and more understanding, because with uphill climbs comes the new perspective gained at the top. I cheerfully tell you that I got it all out with this 7-song release, and each of these tracks tried to recreate the emotion I was feeling at the moment. You can find more details on the individual songs themselves. I hope you enjoy listening to the journey that has taken place these past two years.

Here's the cover!

It’s finally done.

I finally finished it...

The SCORE Project was started in January of this year to map out my growth as a musician from the beginning of 2022 to the end of the Score project. I’ve come a long way. Halfway through the project, something happened that altered the trajectory of my journey, and that was the SunVox 2022.02 Competition. Sawzer (10 year musician on SunVox) asked me to collab with him. Just seeing the way he used the interface and organized the song really inspired me to go big. I wonder if you’ll see the change…

Songs 11-20: after the Sawzer collab

So as it turns out, we are midway through June and I’ve only got one song left on the Score project. That’s right folks: ONE. My biggest undertaking yet is finally close to completion.

Have a nice day!

After a long time of feeling slightly dissatisfied, I finally chose to change my logo! I was up for about two hours working on this, and then some more to perfection. I think it fits pretty well.

COMING SOON: The Score Project

I am planning on releasing a score of songs (20) this year, starting with Entity, which I have already released. Since I can't keep a secret even for my own good, I will share all the songs coming to the Score right on Newgrounds before it comes out.

Basically, every song I'm set to make in 2022 will go straight into the Score. It is my largest undertaking yet. I plan to finish it sometime around May or June, so I will have plenty of songs left in me for 2022, trust me. But don't sweat the long wait time... it will be out before you know it!

And when it is, it will be epic.

NOTE: Remember to check out my website, it will always have all the songs I make, even when they have been taken off Newgrounds and/or SoundCloud! Plus, it's super cool ;)
